Last year in May, many French esports fans got to witness all the CSGO action at Dreamhack Open Tours 2017. The winners of the DH tournament were the French CS player from G2 Esports, who reached the finals beating Hellraisers with an amazing score of 2-0, to claim their first prize of $50K. The tournament gave inspiration to the organizers to host another gaming event in France, the Corsair Dreamhack Masters Marseille 2018.
The upcoming CSGO tournament will feature the best 16 esports teams that will compete at Le Dôme de Marseille to try and win the title of Corsair Dreamhack Masters Marseille 2018, while also acquiring a slot in the Intel Grand Slam. Twelve units have been invited to participate while four more squads have yet to be announced after going through the Qualifiers from three regions, Europe, North America and Asia.
Some of the top CSGO teams that will participate at DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018 include Gambit, G2 Esports, Team Liquid, Mousesports, Navi, Ninjas in Pyjamas, SK Gaming and the Asian qualifier, TyLoo. Three CS teams, two from Europe, one North American and have still to be announced by DH organizers as the qualifying matches are still ongoing.
In the meantime, some esports teams have risen above the ranks and have been invited to take part in Dreamhack Masters Marseille 2018, these include:
Astralis
The star players, Astralis did not manage to go through the Group Stages of the Eleague Major Boston 2018, being eliminated for losing to Cloud 9. Due to the bad performance, the team signed on Magisk from Optic to replace Kjaerbye who left to play with North. At the StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4, the Danes reached the Quarterfinals with three wins against Liquid, Gambit, and Heroic while only two losses to G2 Esports and Natus Vincere. At IEM Katowice, the CS unit dominated the upper brackets proceeding to the playoffs winning against Renegades, SK, and TL. Astralis lost to Faze Clan in the Semifinals, to finish in third place. Astralis seem to have gotten back on their feet in the last CS match, do they have what it takes to be a dominating team?
Cloud9
The NA team, Cloud 9 started the year with a great win at Eleague Major Boston 2018, defeating Faze Clan in the Grand Final. However, Cloud 9 did not perform as good in the StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 finishing in 11th place nor at IEM Katowice where C9 finished in 5th place. Statistically, Cloud9 have won matches against Heroic, Virtus.Pro, TyLoo, Renegades and SK Gaming, however, the NA players lost to Faze Clan twice, Mousesports and SK. Will Cloud9 step up their A-game to be the world’s CSGO masters?
EnVyUs
The Blue boys from EnVyUs will be attending the WESG 2017 World Finals in China and then straight after they head to France to participate in the Corsair DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018. The latest roster changes took place in February with a new player, Hadji and Kioshima join the NV active roster, while xms is benched and SIXER joins the NV Academy. Statistically, in the last ten matches, NV have beaten 4 CSGO teams, Space Soldiers, Flash Gaming, BIG, and Mouz. On the other hand, EnVyUs had 6 losses to Singularity, Heroic, RNG, C9 and lost twice to Navi. With so much pressure going on at esports tournaments and not much time to practice CSGO, will NV perform better at the Corsair DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018 after the roster change?
Faze Clan
In the Eleague Major Boston 2018, Faze Clan lost to Cloud 9, coming in a close second place. Their participation in the StarSeries i-League Season 4 and at IEM Katowice, the CSGO team failed to win the championship trophies. Statistically Faze Clan’s performance in the last 11 esports matches revealed 7 Wins: 4 Losses. Will Faze confirm that they are the masters of CSGO at DreamHack Marseille 2018?
Fnatic
Fnatic’s recent win over Faze Clan at the IEM Katowice – European Closed qualifiers earned their spot in the main event. A wonderful achievement for Fnatic to win over the best esports team, climbing the CSGO leaderboards, acquiring an invitation to DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018. Statistics over the last ten esports tournaments, Fnatic achieved a ratio of 6 wins: 4 losses. As fanatic as the players are about CSGO, do they have the capabilities to win the event?
