Markus ‘Kjaerbye’ Kjaerbye

Markus ‘Kjaerbye’ Kjaerbye is a 19-year-old professional cyber athlete that hails from Frederiksberg, Denmark. He practices Counter-Strike: Global Offensive representing top esports team North, taking on the role of an entry fragger, the first rifler to defend or attack bomb sites.

Kjaerbye made a name for himself playing for Copenhagen Wolves and Dignitas, showing his amazing accurate aim and confident playstyle putting on astounding performances.

 

Outside of gaming, Kjaerbye enjoys his free time cycling or playing Tennis. He likes to travel to different countries with his teammates, seeing the sights making memories as his life is not only about playing CS.

Where it all began:

Markus began playing video games as a pastime since he was young turning into quite a talented player. He would play a computer game for about two weeks and get bored but not while playing Counter-Strike for it had something special that made Markus play more.

CS Global Offensive

Kjaerbye quit school to pursue a professional gaming career in 2014, where he joined his very first esports team, NO SIRI. From that moment on, he never looked back improving on his mistakes and learning new skills to become a part of the top team, Astralis.

North is a Danish esports company that was established in January 2017 by FC Copenhagen and Nordisk Film. At the moment, the gaming organization supports one team that trains in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The current CSGO roster consists of pro players, MSL as captain, aizy, valde, as well as their latest additions of Mertz and Kjaerbye.

Competition Participation:

Kjaerbye and his team, Astralis have participated in several esports tournaments such as ECS Season 4 Finals, ESL Pro League Season 6, BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2017.

The star players have played their best through 2017 at the IEM Oakland, ESL One New York 2017, DreamHack Master Malmo 2017, PGL Major Krakow 2017 among many esports tournaments. Markus has the professional gaming experience playing against Mousesports, SK Gaming, G2 Esports, Faze Clan, Team Liquid, and Gambit.

Winnings:

The greatest esports accomplishment for Kjaerbye was while competing for Astralis at the Eleague Major Atlanta 2017. The star squad beat Natus Vincere in the Quarterfinals, defeated Fnatic on their way to the final match. Astralis won the prestigious tournament with an unbeatable score 2-1 against the top unit, Virtus.Pro, where they claimed a reward of a stunning $500K. Another personal record for Kjaerbye was being named the MVP of the Eleague Major Atlanta by HLTV.org due to his incredible performance in-game.

Kjaerbye’s second-best achievement was at the Esports Championship Series Season 2 – Finals representing Astralis. On their way to the finals, Astralis beat Faze Clan in the group stages and managed to defeat SK Gaming in the Semi-Finals. The top CS squad won the title, beating Optic Gaming with a record of 2-0, taking home a prize of a staggering $250K.
