Joshua ‘jdm64’ Marzano

Joshua ‘jdm64’ Marzano is an American esports gamer that professionally competes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on behalf of Team Liquid. He takes on the role of an awper for his squad for the simple reason that the one shot kill pumps up his adrenaline, making it all the more fun to play.

Marzano practices Counter-Strike through scrims with other top teams. However, this kind of training is no indication of how good a professional player is but more like a booster of confidence. He watches CS tournaments especially where players KennyS and coldzera compete because they are the most consistent in the gameplays at the moment.

If Joshua did not take up the gaming profession, he would be working as a physiotherapist which is what he studied for at University. If the situation arose that he needed to choose between never playing CS again or never to visit a gym, he would opt to stop Counter-Strike. Taking on an active lifestyle is very important to him so much so that he works out at the gym.

Where it all began:

Joshua started his passion for gaming when he was around 10 or 11 going by the username, miniballer playing his first shooter game Golden Gun with lasers that had sound effects that was music to his ears. Two years later, he changed his alias to wolverine, practicing CS Source and eventually took up Counter-Strike 1.6. When Marzano decided to play competitively in CS: GO, he just was not creative enough to come up with a nickname so he stuck with his initials ‘jdm’.

He began his gaming career in 2013 with a semi-professional team called Slow Motion that rose through the ranks. Showing off his gaming talents in small competitions got him noticed by esports teams like NetcodeGuides.com, mouseSpaz and Counter Logic Gaming.

The Team:

Team Liquid is a gaming organization that was founded in The Netherlands. The very first team that was formed was a Brood War Clan which eventually switched to Starcraft 2 in 2010. Understanding the world of esports, Liquid supports teams that compete in different video games such as League of Legends, Hearthstone, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Halo, FIFA, Smash and Street Fighter. The organization is also known for its informative websites covering all that is connected to electronic sports like tournaments, pro players and their professional teams.

Competition Participation and Winnings:

The greatest accomplishment yet for jdm64 and his Team Liquid was at ESL One: Cologne 2016. The CS: GO squad managed to reach the finals but lost to top team SK Gaming with the score 0-2. They finished in a close second place, proud to claim their reward of $150K.

The second highest achievement for Josh was while competing for Liquid at the Esports Championship Series Season 1 Finals. The CS unit were defeated by G2 Esports to finish in fifth place, scooping up a reward of $65K.

The latest Counter Strike tournaments that jdm64 and his squad participated include Eleague CS: GO Premier 2017, ESL One New York, ESG Tour Mykonos, DreamHack Masters Malmo qualifiers, ESL One Cologne among many more. Liquid have the competitive experience to go up against top teams like Faze Clan, Mousesports, Renegades, Astralis, North, CLG, Immortals and Optic Gaming, to improve on their CS Strategies and motivate them to become better in-game.
