William ‘draken’ Sundin is a professional gamer who currently is a part of the Ninjas in Pyjamas CS: GO team. His gaming responsibility towards his unit is handling the awp role, creating havoc on his opponents with his deadly aim.
After a good game especially winning an esports tournament, William likes to celebrate drinking beer with his team mates. Outside of gaming, Sundin is an avid fan of the TV series, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things. Draken also loves watching films, his latest being the 3D version of Skull Island.
Where it all began:
William was around 11 years old when he started playing with esports teams, dedicating his time to train and compete in Counter-Strike 1.6. He had eventually stopped and started practicing another video game, Heroes of Newerth. When Sundin turned 18 years old he went back compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with Aftermatch in 2015.
Ninjas in Pyjamas is an esports organisation was established in 2000 and based in Sweden. They are one of the oldest and largest competitive team, mostly famous for their Counter-Strike unit. Due to the success of the gaming company, they support teams that compete in CS: GO and League of Legends.
Ninjas in Pyjamas CS: GO team have been around since the 2000 and have acquired the gaming experience to be a professional company. Over the years, roster changes have taken place for the good of the team to reach the one goal to win esports tournaments. NiP CS: GO roster consists of Xizt as captain, GeT _RiGhT, f0rest, draken and the latest addition is REZ from Epsilon.
NiP are famous for their humour in official matches like crabwalking and recently during their warm-up preparing for competitons, their way of communication was ‘military style’. The Ninjas have a song dedicated to their team, ‘Standing When It All Falls Down’ by John De Sohn, giving them the drive and motivation to be the best they can be, professional esports players.
The most recent competitions that Draken and his team Ninjas in Pyjamas have participated include ESL One Cologne 2017, ESL Pro League Season 5 – Europe, cs_summit, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 and so many more esports competitions.
Draken has had the privilege to compete for NiP against top CS: GO units like Cloud 9, Space Soldiers and Fnatic. For most of his esports career so far, Sundin has had the experience of competing against other esports teams such as Mousesports, Penta Sports, Vega Squadron, Big, Rogue, Godsent, NV and Hellraisers among many others.
The highest earnings Draken has won as a professional player was at the World Cyber Arena 2016 World Finals. At the time draken was playing for Epsilon Esports where the CS: GO squad won against Vici Gaming with the unbeatable score 3:0. They took the Major title, scooping the reward of a staggering $87K.
Wiliam’s second greatest win was also while with Epsilon competing at the Pro Gamer League 2016 – Summer. The squad battled against Team X in the finals, winning the tournament with a record of 3:0, claiming their well-deserved cash prize of $50K.
