Karlo ‘Ustilo’ Pivac is a talented 24-year old pro gamer of Croatian descent but lived his whole life in Australia. He plays professionally in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive practising his fighting skills as the rifler for his current team, Renegades, training between 6 to 8 hours a day.
Ustilo is a fan of another top CS player that plays for SK Gaming Coldzera for his gaming tactics. In his free time, Karlo has played other computer games especially his favourite, H1Z1 and perhaps a few games of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. If he wasn’t playing video games, he would be making a living in Construction, building houses. Pivac’s favourite food is pasta and the best Australian food, he has ever tasted was the popular Bunning’s Sausages.
Where it all began:
Karlo developed an interest in video games through his brother who introduced him to Counter-Strike. For most of the time, he would sit next to his brother watching him play for hours. Sometimes he would let Ustilo play for a while and from that moment on he got hooked on CS and never stopped playing since.
The Team:
Renegades is an Australian esports organisation that was founded by Christopher ‘MonteCristo’ Mykles in 2015. Being the leading team in the continent has given them the opportunity to expand their gaming association, supporting teams that compete in CS: GO, Call of Duty, Super Smash Bros and Rocket League.
Renegades formed their CSGO lineup in the Summer of 2016 that acquired a North American team. The present roster consists of AZR, jks, Ustilo, Nifty as their team captain and jkaem as the latest player who joined as a stand-in.
Competition Participation:
Some of the most recent North American qualifying matches that Ustilo and Renegades CSGO team have participated include ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018, Dreamhack Masters Marseille and StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4. Premier esports matches that Renegades have taken part in were IEM Katowice, Eleague Major Boston 2018, IEM Oakland, ESL Pro League Season 6 and iBUYPOWER Masters 2017.
The top esports teams that Ustilo and his team RNG have had the pleasure competing with are Bravado Gaming, Cloud9, Faze Clan, Team Liquid, Avangar, BIG, NRG so as to improve on their mistakes and come up with new CS strategies.
Winnings:
The greatest win for Ustilo and Renegades was at the StarLaddder i-League Invitational #2. The CS squad went through the Group stages and into the playoffs. The major CSGO tournament saw, RNG defeat Hellraisers in the Semis with an incredible score of 2-1. Advancing to the finals, RNG beat a top team, Virtus.Pro with a remarkable score of 2-0, claiming a cash prize of $75K.
The second accomplishment for RNG and Ustilo was at the Eleague Season 1. At the group stages, the CS squad lost to Cloud9, which led them to participate in the Last Chance Bracket. Renegades won against Flipsid3 Tactics only to lose in the next match against to Virtus.Pro. Despite the loss, Renegades finished in 9th place claiming their prize of $40K.
