IEM Katowice 2017 | League of Legends

IEM Katowice 2017 is organised by ESL, which is owned by Turtle Entertainment GmbH, based in Germany. The event is sponsored by Intel Extreme Masters, the longest running pro gaming world tour that began in 2006, featuring video games that include CS:GO, Starcraft and League of Legends

The IEM Katowice 2017 LOL matches will be held in Poland between the 22nd until the 26th February with the prize pool of $150K distributed among the teams. The prestigious matches like the Intel Extreme Masters feature professional teams with the talent to fight for the League of Legends World Championship title.

In order to qualify for IEM Katowice 2017, six LOL teams would have to place in the top eight ranks in the 2016 World Championships. Each of these units are determined from every region, Korea, China, North America, Europe, Taiwan and also an International wildcard. The winners of IEM Oakland and IEM Gyeonggi could also qualify to participate.

The IEM Katowice Tournament will feature eight teams which will be divided into two groups of four. The top two teams in each group will move on to the playoffs, featuring the best of three semifinals and proceed to the best of five grand final.

Here is some of the League of legends teams who will be competing at the IEM Katowice 2017.

H2K Gaming

This LOL team has been established in 2011, based in the UK. H2K’s performance at EU LCS Summer Split 2016, silenced all doubts, making it all the way to the Semi-finals at the World Championships 2016. Do they have what it takes to make it again this year closer to the finals at the IEM Katowice 2017?

M19

The team is a Russian esports squad which started only recently on the 9th January 2017. The M19 roster is made up of the former Albus NoX Luna team players Smurf, PvPStejos, Kira, VincentVega and Likkrit. Being a LOL unit that has not much experience in competitions, they will make the most of this opportunity to expose their capabilities in the esports scene as an International Wildcard.

Unicorns of Love

A German LOL team that exploded in the esports scene in 2014 becoming famous for their meta picks and dramatic gameplays. A rising squad that have unpredictable tricks up their sleeve that makes it hard for their opponents to read them. Do the Unicorns have the right mix of players to succeed in the IEM Katowice?

Flash Wolves

An esports organisation based in Taiwan was founded in 2013. The Flash Wolves LOL roster consists of six pro gamers, MMD, Rins, Karsa, Maple, Betty and SwordArt. They are driven with determination to succeed and will continue at the IEM Katowice 2017.

Kongdoo Monster

Kongdoo Monster LOL team was established in February 2016, based in South Korea. Their roster of six players includes Roach, Punch, Edge, Ssol and GuGer. Competing against some of the renowned teams will Kongdoo Monsters go through to the playoffs?

Rox Tigers

Founded in November 2014, the South Korean professional LOL unit have had a successful streak at the LCK Spring and Summer Tournaments 2016. Last December 2016, Rox Tigers formed a new roster of five new players, Shy, Seonghwan, Mickey, Sangyoon and KeY. Will this team live up to their reputation?
