Maroun ‘GH’ Merhej is a Lebanese top Dota 2 player currently competing for Team Liquid. He has taken on the support role helping his teammates in game, trying to ban his favourite heroes would be a foolish mistake as he has a wide hero pool. In his latest tournaments he has played his signature Dota heroes Io, Keeper of the Light and Earthshaker.
GH is quite the humble and easygoing guy who studied Law. In his free time, Merhej caught up with the tv series, Sherlock, wearing the particular hat and magnifying glass with a knack for seeing the small details as to what might have happened.
Where it all began:
Maroun began playing computer games when he was ten years old. He and his friends would go to the local Internet café, where they would play Counter-Strike, Warcraft III and Dota. He got his alias after his friends saw how skilled Merhej was admiring his flashy playstyle, calling him GH GOD.
After playing pubs, GH was one of the highest players that ranked top in the MMR leaderboards and Liquid took a leap of faith and signed on Merhej.
Team Liquid was established in 2000 with its headquarters based in The Netherlands. They started out with a team specializing in Brood War and then the squad switched to play Starcraft 2 in 2010. In the Upper brackets team liquid lost to Invictus Gaming and made their way into the lower brackets defeating Secret, Empire, Virtus.Pro, LGD Gaming and LFY towards the finals. The Dota 2 squad fulfilled their dreams of winning such a prestigious match, beating Newbee in the Grand Final 3-0, scooping the highest prize pool of a mind-blowing $10.8 million.
