Maroun ‘GH’ Merhej

Maroun ‘GH’ Merhej is a Lebanese top Dota 2 player currently competing for Team Liquid. He has taken on the support role helping his teammates in game, trying to ban his favourite heroes would be a foolish mistake as he has a wide hero pool. In his latest tournaments he has played his signature Dota heroes Io, Keeper of the Light and Earthshaker.

GH is quite the humble and easygoing guy who studied Law. In his free time, Merhej caught up with the tv series, Sherlock, wearing the particular hat and magnifying glass with a knack for seeing the small details as to what might have happened.

Where it all began:

Maroun began playing computer games when he was ten years old. He and his friends would go to the local Internet café, where they would play Counter-Strike, Warcraft III and Dota. He got his alias after his friends saw how skilled Merhej was admiring his flashy playstyle, calling him GH GOD.

After playing pubs, GH was one of the highest players that ranked top in the MMR leaderboards and Liquid took a leap of faith and signed on Merhej.

The Team:

Team Liquid was established in 2000 with its headquarters based in The Netherlands. They started out with a team specializing in Brood War and then the squad switched to play Starcraft 2 in 2010. They have become famous for their informative website Teamliquid.net covering esports teams, top players and events. The company have different units specializing in Hearthstone, Dota 2, Smash, Overwatch, League of Legends and Starcraft.

Liquid Dota 2 roster was formed in December 2016 and since then have worked to achieve results. The roster consists of Kuroky the collected captain, the convivial Miracle, the vigilant Matumbaman, the diligent player MinD_ContRoL and the GH GOD. The unit is very famous for their synergy as a team, their endurance and tenacity in the dota 2 game.

Competition Participation:

2017 proved a winning streak possible for Team Liquid Dota. They have participated in the recent DreamLeague Season 7, StarLadder i-League Invitational #2, WellPlay Invitational #6 among many other esports tournaments. The only disappointing results were at The Kiev Major placing fifth and the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017 finishing twelfth.

While GH is currently with Team Liquid, he has acquired the gaming experience competing against top units like Planet Odd, TNC Pro Team, Invictus Gaming, Faceless, VGJ, NP and AD Finem.

Winnings:

The greatest win yet for GH and his current Team Liquid was winning The International 7. In the Upper brackets team liquid lost to Invictus Gaming and made their way into the lower brackets defeating Secret, Empire, Virtus.Pro, LGD Gaming and LFY towards the finals. The Dota 2 squad fulfilled their dreams of winning such a prestigious match, beating Newbee in the Grand Final 3-0, scooping the highest prize pool of a mind-blowing $10.8 million.

The second amazing achievement for Liquid Dota was at the EPICENTER 2017. The squad beat top team Evil Geniuses with a record 3-1, taking the championship title in preparation for TI showing the esports community who are the masters of Dota 2.
