Gustavo ‘yel’ Knittel

Gustavo ‘yeL’ Knittel is a Brazilian cyber athlete who trains in CS:GO for Luminosity Gaming. Taking on the position of awper, Knittel has a sharp aim, holding the hard angles with ability to take the bombsite on their own while catching the opposing team unaware.

Where it all began:

Gustavo started playing computer games in 2007, training in Counter-Strike 1.6. He acquired the game knowledge and fighting skills to be better when he started playing competitively in June 2015 with his very first CS squad, Team Toxic. He has also played for Supernova, Jayob esports and which has led him to join his current unit, Luminosity Gaming.

The Team:

Luminosity Gaming is a Canadian esports organisation also known as LG. The company was founded by Steve ‘Buyaka’ Maida in February 2015 starting with a Counter-Strike Global Offensive team. LG supports different professional teams that play in Smite, LOL, Hearthstone,  Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty.

Luminosity Gaming CS:GO was one of the first few units created in the company. Over the years the CS team has won Major events such as the MLG Major Championship Colombus and ESL Pro League Season 3. The current CSGO team consists of pro players PKL as their captain,  Destinyy, yeL, shz, SHOOWTiME. Guiding LG towards winning esports tournaments is the new coach felippe1 who joined in January 2017.

Competition Participation:

YeL and his team have recently participated in the qualifiers of DreamHack Summer 2017, Americas Minor Championship, DH Tours, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 and IEM XI World Championship. Some of the latest premier and Major events that LG have taken part include Subaru Invitational 2017, iBuyPower Invitational, DH Austin among several other competitions.


LG CS:GO have battled against some of the world top teams in esports, these include CLG, SK, Immortals, Misfits, Cloud 9, Team Liquid, Complexity and Renegades, stepping up their game levels to become a top CS unit.


The highest earnings for yeL and his team Luminosity Gaming was when they competed at the ESL Pro League Season 5 – North America. The CSGO squad finished the event in seventh place to claim their amazing reward of $27K.
