Dreamhack Austin 2017

DreamHack Austin is the second event this year, held on the 28 – 30 April 2017 which will be hosted in Austin, Texas. The world’s largest digital festival, DreamHack features esports games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Starcraft II and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

On top of this gamers and fans will be able to attend the DreamExpo or the cosplay event. With good reason, every year that passes, DH has set records at LAN parties of over 26K visitors that have attended and over 10K esports fans tune in to watch the big match on their personal computer.

From a local school cafeteria in Malung, k2-ICE and DH_admin organised a weekend of coding and hacking for computer enthusiasts. Little did they know that such a gathering would be the start of such a prestigious event like DreamHack.

DreamHack Austin will be spread over three days, where the teams will be split into two groups of four. Each group will have two teams eliminated and the other two will take their spot towards the playoffs. So the four teams remain will advance to compete in the single elimination competing in the best of three maps.

Thousands of esports fans around the world will be watching eight professional teams go head-to-head in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive matches. The eight teams that will participate in DreamHack Austin include Cloud 9, Gambit, G2 Esports, Immortals, Team Liquid, Heroic, Hellraisers and Luminosity Gaming.

Last year’s DreamHack Austin was won by Luminosity Gaming taking home the first prize of $50K. Which CS:GO team has what it takes to take over the championship from LG for their share of the $100K prize?
