Steven ‘Hans Sama’ Liv is a passionate 17-year-old pro gamer currently competing for Misfits as the AD Carry. He may be young and inexperienced but he has a way of adapting quickly to any situation playing his favourite LOL heroes, Draven, Jhin, Kalista, Lucian. His first gaming alias was ‘Hans von Melzer’ after the Austrian Tennis player, Jurgen Melzer. Eventually, he kept ‘Hans’ and added on ‘sama’ for his love of Japanese anime.
In his younger days he used to read manga 2 and use them for inspiration for his own drawings, a lot of his peers would praise his artistic skills because they looked so realistic. To this day, Liv kept on working on his art and has admitted that when he retires from full time LOL, he aspires to be a manga artist. He also enjoys his spare time watching anime, some of these include his favourite, Steins;Gate, Sword Art Online, Full Metal Alchemist and Attack on Titan.
Where it all began:
Steven was introduced to video games by his older brother, in fact his very first competitive game they used to play was Brakeless. From that moment they never stopped, they enjoyed playing Star Wars: Jedi Outcast II, Warcraft III, Titan Quest, Starcraft, CS:GO, Black Desert Online.
When Hans Sama was eleven he started playing League of Legends which eventually led him to stop tennis and attend school to dedicate more time into gaming. He always had the motivation to beat his brother in computer games and dreams that one day he will win the LOL World Championship.
The Team:
Misfits is a European esports association that was founded in May 2016 by Ben Spoont. They are a team most famous for their competitive success in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch and League of Legends. Over the years, the company has grown to support units competing in Hearthstone and Super Smash Bros.
Misfits acquired their LOL unit from the Renegades Banditos after having disbanded. The latest additions to the unit include Hilva who joined to be their Strategic coach and as from May, Maxlore joins as the jungler. The lineup also consists of Alphari, PowerofEvil, Ignar and Hans Sama.
Competition Participation and Winnings:
Hans Sama’s great achievement with the Misfits team was at the 2017 EU LCS Spring Playoffs. The LOL squad finished in fourth place losing to Fnatic in the semi-finals with the score 0:3, taking home a prize of $20K.
The second great win for Steven was playing for Millenium competing at the 2016 EU Challenger Spring Season. They won a spectacular first prize of $17K, beating Huma in the finals.
Other LOL tournaments that Steven has participated include the Gamers Assembly 2016, Lyon e-sport 9, Asus Republic of Gamers 2015, PGL Legends of the Rift S1 and so many more competitions. Through Steven’s gaming career he has competed against top teams like the Copenhagen Wolves and another top team, Renegades.
