ELeague Major

Turner and WME|IMG have partnered up to host the CS:GO Championship, ELEAGUE Major. This tournament will be held in Atlanta between 22nd until 29th January 2017. The 10th ELEAGUE Major event will feature sixteen squads competing in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. 

From the previous Major tournament, ESL One Cologne 2016 event, the first eight (Legend) squads qualified automatically for the ELEAGUE in 2017. Whilst the remaining eight challenging teams will be decided by a LAN qualifier.

The sixteen Legend squads that qualify for the match and Challenger teams competing against each other in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The four top ranking units will get to win a share in the prize pool of one million dollars.

Here’s our pick of the 8 teams that may make it through the first round:

SK GAMING

In the final match of the ESL One Cologne, SK Gaming won over Team Liquid winning first place. In the latest match of ELEAGUE Season 2, they lost to Astralis. The player Fnx left the team while Fox is a temporary replacement, do you think they could keep up their expectations to win?

TEAM LIQUID

Their CS:GO squad was created in January 2015, made up of five professional players, nitr0, EliGE, Hiko, jdm64 and Pimp. Team Liquid made their mark to qualify in ELEAGUE Major by becoming the first North American squad to reach the CS:GO Major finals at ESL One Cologne 2016.

FNATIC

The squad Is known worldwide as one of the best esports organizations. Fnatic CS:GO team have competed in several big tournaments like DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, ESL One: Cologne 2016, MLG Championship among many others. In Fnatic’s roster, the players, Lekro and wenton left the Fnatic squad and replaced by Krimz and disco doplan.

Virtus.Pro

A Russian esports squad, Virtus.Pro consist of five teammates, Taz, NEO, pasha, Snax and Byali. This unit has won over CS:GO squads like Cloud 9, Natus Vincere and Fnatic. Do you think they have what it takes to win this tournament?

ASTRALIS

A Danish esports organization partly owned by the players, Astralis have lately won  against Optic Gaming in the finals of the Esports Championship Season 2 in 2016. They have also participated in ELEAGUE Season 2 in Atlanta finishing second place winning a prize of $140K. Last October 2016, Astralis acquired a new team captain and in-game leader, Gla1ve.

FLIPSID3 TACTICS

An American esports organization, F3 is made up of five players, B1ad3, the squad captain, WorldEdit, markeloff, wayLander and electronic, who is currently on trial. Some competitions that Flipsid3 Tactics have competed include DreamHack Winter 2016, Adrenaline Cyber League and Eleague Season 1 among many other tournaments.

GAMBIT ESPORTS

A British esports company created their CS:GO squad in January 2016. Gambit Esports consists of five dedicated members these include Dosia, mou, AdreN, Zeus and Hobbit. Their latest success was beating Renegades in DreamHack Winter 2016 in Sweden winning first place with a prize pool of $50K.  

NATUS VINCERE

A Ukranian esports organisation, worldly known for their Counter Strike team. In the last few matches, NaVi won against Virtus Pro in ESL One: New York 2016 and beat Luminosity Gaming in Dreamhack Leipzig 2016. Among some of the favourite squads that are taking part, do Natus Vincere stand a chance to win the ELEAGUE Major?
