Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 is about to enter its Playoffs Stage. Only half of the initial 16 teams are left in the competition and they will be playing in a GSL (double-elimination bracket) format. Given the high stakes (1500 qualification points for The International 2018 and $900.000 in prizes), the matches will no doubt be fierce and the betting opportunities are plenty.
LGD Gaming has had a rough season so far and is currently sitting at number 12 in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings table with just 471 points. The Chinese team has two 2nd place finishes in Dota Pro Circuit LAN events, both of them Minors.

At Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018, LGD Gaming finished Group A in second place. They won against Team Liquid (2W – 0L), Vici Gaming (1W – 0L), Keen Gaming (1W – 0L) and Newbee (2W – 0L), got mixed results against OpTic Gaming (1W – 1L), and lost against OG (0W – 1L) and TNC Pro Team (0W – 2L).
On the other side, Evil Geniuses is sitting at number 7 in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings with 1335 points. The North American team has been playing very well lately, winning many important matches against the world’s best and even entire tournaments (GESC: Indonesia Dota2 Minor). At this event, EG finished 3rd in Group B with 5 wins and 2 losses (against Virtus.pro and Mineski).
Betway puts the odds for this match at 1.65 – 2.10 in favor of Evil Geniuses and in my opinion, they are heavily favored to win.
As much as I want to believe in Team Liquid’s ability to perform at their TI 7 level and beat Virtus.pro, it’s just extremely unlikely that this will happen. VP is by far the strongest team in the world right now and likely the next TI champion. At DAC 2018, Virtus.pro finished the Group Stage with 7 wins and 0 losses while Team Liquid had 4 victories and 3 defeats.
Betway puts the odds for this match at 1.50 – 2.40 in favor of Virtus.pro, making this match the best betting opportunity on this list. A 50% profit for an almost guaranteed result.

OpTic Gaming is in great shape right now. Just recently, ppd’s team won a Bo3 series against Evil Geniuses and keep in mind that EG won GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor just 2 weeks ago, by defeating VGJ.Thunder in the Grand Finals (score 2 – 0). However, Mineski seems to have been reborn and is playing incredibly well. The SEA team finished the Group Stage with 6 wins and a single loss (against Virtus.pro). If it can maintain its current form for the match against OpTic, I don’t believe the North Americans have what it takes to beat this giant.
Betway puts the odds for this match at 1.60 – 2.20 in favor of Mineski. So again, you get great returns for a very safe bet.

These two teams already met once in the Group Stage. TNC won that game and also Group A, after a spectacular reversal during the group’s tiebreakers. However, keep in mind that overall, Vici Gaming has been much better than TNC Pro Team throughout the season and is sitting at number 6 in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings with 2160 points. By contrast, TNC is sitting at number 13 with just 270 points. Furthermore, Vici Gaming is playing in front of its home crowd, and that may also have a positive impact on their game.
Betway puts the odds for this match at 1.70 – 2.05 in favor of TNC Pro Team, but the chance of an upset is so great that you may want to consider betting on the “underdog”.
