Yang ‘Chalice’ Shenyi is a 19-year-old Chinese player who practices Dota 2 for his professional team. LGD Gaming. Since 2016, Yang has acquired the gaming skills to play offlaner and carry positions to assist his squad to win esports matches with his signature dota heroes Dark Seer, Clockwerk and Batrider.
A professional gamer like Chalice gets to play his favourite esports game Dota 2 at prestigious tournaments, travelling to different countries and perhaps use his free time seeing the cultural sights. In Shenyl’s spare time, he also likes to kill time playing The King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition as well as Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.
Where it all began:
Yang was fascinated with video games at a very young age. He would watch small esports tournaments on TV, aspiring that one day he too will be a professional gamer. He was always competitive in sports at school and while playing computer games, which eventually led him to play Dota 2.
He pursued his dream of becoming a pro cyber athlete in 2016 when he joined his very first esports squad, MAX.Y. He continued to improve his gaming skills with Team Max before joining his present team, LGD Gaming.
The Team:
LGD Gaming is a Chinese esports organization that was founded in 2009 and is sponsored by Guizhou Laogandie Food. The gaming company has recently based their operations in Hangzhou, China, supporting their units that compete in League of Legends, Dota 2 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Ever since the beginning, LGD was a top esports team in the Chinese gaming community.
LGD created their Dota 2 team in 2009, starting out with a unit, For The Dream, that won their first competition SMM 2009. The current dota 2 roster is made up of the pro players, fy as team captain, Ame, Somnus丶M, Chalice, and xNova.
Competition Participation:
The most recent China qualifier matches that LGD Chalice has participated include EPICENTER XL, StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational #5, GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor, Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018, and The Bucharest Major. Shenyl has also attended the latest premier tournament, the ESL One Katowice 2018 as well as the major competition, StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4.
LGD Chalice has lately won against VGJ.Thunder and Invictus Gaming. The Dota squad have had the pleasure of going against top dota 2 teams like Newbee, Team Liquid, WarriorsGaming. Unity, Vici, EHOME, and CDEC. The gaming experience has given them the privilege to learn from their opponents so as to improve on their mistakes.
Winnings:
The highest earnings won by Chalice and his team LGD Gaming was at the StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4. The top dota 2 team managed to go through the Group Stage advancing to the Semifinals, where they played their best defeating Newbee. In the Finals, LGD lost to Team Liquid finishing in second place, taking home a reward of $60K.
The second great accomplishment for Shenyi and his team LGD Gaming was at the recent ESL One Katowice 2018. The dota 2 unit won against Evil Geniuses in the group quarterfinals, however, they lost to Team Secret in the Group B Semifinals. LGD blew their second chance in the Loser’s Round 2, where LGD was defeated by top Dota team Newbee which led to their elimination. Despite their loss, LGD took home their second highest prize of $10K.
