Wang ‘Ame’ Chunyu

Wang ‘Ame’ Chunyu is a talented 20-year-old Dota 2 player that forms part of LGD Gaming. Ame’s carry role brings out his ability to lead his squad to a win with his signature heroes, Juggernaut, Sven, and Lifestealer.

In his spare time, Ame has played other video games like Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and God Eater 2 Rage Burst. Outside of gaming, he loves to travel to new countries, seeing the cultural sights and celebrate any esports winning matches together with his teammates.

Where it all began:

Wang always liked competition, practising sports just to be a better player. He was also fascinated with playing video games and would watch local gaming competitions. From then on, he set his sights on international tournaments aspiring that one day he will be like the pro players on TV.

He pursued his professional esports career in 2015 when he joined CDEC Youths competing in Dota 2. While with them, he made a name for himself as one of the most talented carries in China. This fame has led him to join the top dota team, LGD Gaming, with whom he still is gaining more competitive experience while also improving on his mistakes.

The Team:

LGD Gaming is a Chinese esports association that was established in 2009, which was named after their main sponsor, Guizhou Laogandie Food. The gaming club currently supports teams that compete in Dota 2, League of Legends and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Over the years, LGD has built up a reputation for being one of the top esports teams in the Chinese esports scene.

LGD Gaming created their dota squad back in 2009 with the originally named For the Dream, the same team that won their first competition, SMM 2009. The squad has managed to participate at The International for the last five years. To continue the LGD Gaming legacy are pro players fy as team captain, Somnus丶M, Ame, Chalice, and xNova.

Competition Participation:

The premier and major esports tournaments that Ame and his dota 2 team LGD Gaming have participated at ESL One Katowice 2018, StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4, Dota Summit 8, MDL Macau, Perfect World Masters and PGL Open Bucharest.

Some of the recent China qualifying matches that LGD gaming have also taken part in were the GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor, Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018, ESL One Katowice 2018 and The Bucharest Major.

Ame has had the pleasure of competing against top dota 2 teams like Newbee, VGJ.Thunder, Team Liquid, LFY, and Mineski. The competitive experience of the past tournaments will help Chunyu improve on his mistakes and come up with new strategies.

Winnings:

The highest achievement for Ame so far is The International 2017 while competing for LGD Gaming. Going through the group stages, the dota 2 team lost to Virtus.Pro, moving down to the Lower Brackets. Their second chance to play towards the finals, LGD beat top squads such as Digital Chaos, OG, Invictus Gaming. Their winning streak was not to last as Team Liquid defeated LGD, to finish in fourth place, claiming their prize of a whopping $1.7 million.

The second great accomplishment for LGD Ame was at the Mars Dota 2 League 2017. The dota 2 team beat LFY with a Grand finals score of 3-2. LGD Gaming proudly took the Championship title and claimed the winning prize of a stunning $112K.
