Tarik ‘Tarik’ Celik

Tarik ‘Tarik’ Celik is a talented esports player training in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as the entry fragger, playing for Cloud 9. He moved with his family from Turkey to the US to live the American dream. He represented Team USA at the World Championships 2015 and also competed for Turkey’s national team at the World Championships 2016.

Celik is capable of speaking two languages, English and Turkish, in fact when the need arises he is often a translator in interviews. Playing Counter-Strike can be stressful especially when tournaments are near, so Tarik spends his weekends away from gaming, going to the beach, going to the movies or perhaps a drink with his friends.

Where it all began:

When Tarik was five years old, he would stay by his brother’s side watching him play Counter-Strike 1.6 and Half-Life and even listen in to the audio coming from the headphones. Tarik’s first video game he ever played was Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Celik would tell people in his neighborhood that he wanted to become a professional gamer. He made it his mission, believing that one day he will make it, never giving up.

Having the drive to push forward and be with a top team, Tarik made gaming his career, in fact his family watch and support him all the way, competing in CS: GO tournaments.

The Team:

Cloud 9 is a North American esports association that was created in 2012 by Jack Etienne. Starting out with a League of Legends team, they have grown to become quite well-known in the gaming community. C9 company support teams that specialize in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Rocket League and VainGlory.

Cloud 9 have launched their CS: GO team in August 2014 with their very first match at the ESL One: Cologne 2014. The latest additions to C9 roster are RUSH and Tarik that will replace n0thing who will be a remote analyst at the upcoming esports tournament ESL One: New York 2017 and shroud who has become a substitute player. Forming the new CS team is RUSH, Tarik, Stewie2k, Skadoodle, automatic so together they raise the unit to new heights.

Competition Participation:

The latest CS: GO tournaments that Cloud 9 have participated include DreamHack Masters Malmo, ESEA Rank S – NA August 2017 and have also qualified as the North American CS: GO team to participate in the upcoming esports event of ESL One: New York.

ECS Series esports events

While playing for Optic Gaming, Tarik took part in the main events of ECS Season 3 – Finals, ESL Pro League Season 5 and Subaru Invitational. Tarik has also taken part in more prestigious esports events such as ESL One Cologne, IEM Sydney, CS Summit, DreamHack Masters Las Vegas and Eleague Major 2017.

In order to improve on CS strategies and skills, Tarik had the pleasure of competing against top esports teams such as SK Gaming, Renegades, G2 Esports, Counter Logic Gaming, Gambit, North and among other squads.

Winnings:

The second great record for Tarik was while playing for Optic Gaming at Esports Championship Series Season 2 – Finals. The CS unit managed to reach the finals but lost to Astralis, coming in second place, claiming their prize of $120K.

Tarik’s highest earnings so far as a pro player was while playing for Optic Gaming at Eleague Season 2. The CS: GO squad faced off Astralis, taking the opportunity to take revenge after their loss earlier, they beat the Danes with the incredible score 2-1.
