Shaun ‘Shellz’ Springette is a esports athlete from the United Kingdom, trained to play FIFA Esports on behalf of Unilad Gaming. He has the skills to recover quickly from difficult situations while keeping his calm under pressure, proving his abilities as one of the best players in the world.
Aside from playing FIFA, Shellz sides with Chelsea Football Club watching them in live tournaments, learning different strategies. Shaun plays other video games such as the basketball video game, NBA 2K, Call of Duty and Rainbow 6 among many other games. After long hours of gaming, Springette likes to catch up on tele-series, Stranger Things and Game of Thrones.
Where it all began:
Shaun loved gaming ever since he was a kid, he would watch his father play video games and pretend to play along with an unplugged console. His love for football led him to practice FIFA, he had always known he was a good player.
Shaun would watch professional players competing in FIFA events on TV, following them intently. This gave him the aspiration that one day he will become a pro gamer, joining the best gaming team, helping him achieve a successful career. He made his gaming debut when he won the FIFA Playstation Final, a life-changing moment for him for someone who was not known in the esports scene.
Shellz’s parents were not too happy about his decision to pursue a gaming career in FIFA. In an interview with the dailymail.co.uk, Shaun admits, 'It was a big risk and my parents weren’t happy at first, for all they knew I just sat in my room playing, they don’t actually know if I was good, they hadn’t seen me play. And I think Berlin was the main thing that won them over, not only because I won £46,000 but they saw me on TV, they realised how big this could be.'
Unilad Gaming is a part of a bigger company of the Unilad Group, that was established in 2010. The organization is widely known for their controversial website, that covers entertainment, sports, technology and social news, reaching people worldwide.
Unilad Esports is a British esports association that acquired professional FIFA player, Shellz in September 2017 and together with Spencer 'gorilla' Ealing forming part of the roster to compete in prestigious FIFA tournaments, impressing esports fans with his gaming performance.
Competition Participation and Winnings:
Springette began competing in FIFA in 2016, by winning the Playstation 4 Final. His performance was impressive even though he was a new player in the esports scene. In this event, Shellz managed to reach the lower brackets final to qualify for the FIFA Ultimate Championship in Berlin.
Since Shellz was a new face in the gaming scene, no one predicted that he would participate in the FUT Grand Final in Berlin. In the end Shaun lost to Vitality Rocky, however he accomplished a dream as the Playstation Champion, coming in second place taking home a stunning prize of $80K.
In an interview with redbull.com, Shellz said "Still to this day, I can't believe I won $80,000. It has honestly changed not only my life, but my family's too. I can now help them out whenever they need. I haven't done much with the money to be honest – the hardest thing is not going to splash all of it at once. I've done well at not letting it go to my head and hopefully I will get to win more in the future.”
