Pongphop Rattanasangchod, is a 23 years old Thai pro gamer who is also known as ‘Mickie’, playing for Team EnVyUs Overwatch. He takes on the flex position for his NV team showing his abilities with his signature heroes D.VA, Zarya and his favourite champion, Widowmaker.
Where it all began:
Mickie had an interest in gaming in fact he used to play Point Blank or also known Gun Bullet, a first person shooter game developed in Japan. He was a fan of the esports team EnVyUs and followed them in several competitions.
Pongphop came across the latest video game in the closed beta that was launched in 2015. He followed his dream to be a professional player competing for Thailand national esports team at the Overwatch World Cup 2016: Asia Pacific Qualifier.
He continued his gaming career attending events with Team Weedtime, improving on his gaming strategies and skills. He tried out for EnVyUs as a temporary stand-in at the MLG Vegas and the OW APEX Season 1, proving his potential and worth that won NV the first place in both events although they did not scrim for two weeks.
The Team:
Team EnVyUs is an American gaming company that was founded in 2007, famous for their competitive background in Call of Duty. Since then association has grown to support several other teams in Gears of War, CS:GO, Halo, League of Legends, Overwatch and Starcraft. The units strive to achieve big in Major esports tournaments, trying their best to reach the grand finals.
EnVyUs Overwatch team was created in February 2016, with the acquisition of Team Hubris but then in April, the old team disbanded. Just a few days NV signed on the roster of IDDQD, bringing back Talespin temporarily, to help startup the success. The current roster includes professional six players, Taimou, HarryHook, cocco, chipshajen, Mickie and Effect.
Competition Participation:
Their most recent competitions Team NV participated in was at the OW APEX Season 2 and Overwatch Rumble – April. They battled against Rogue ranking in second place to win a prize of $3K.
Other prestigious OW events that the squad attended was the Beyond the Summit Overwatch Cup, Alienware Monthyl Melee: July, iBUYPOWER Invitational 2016 – Summer, OG Invitational among many other events. They have strived to keep their gaming levels high going head to head against some of the world’s leading teams such as Misfits, Cloud 9, Team Solomid, Luminosity.
Winnings:
The greatest achievement for Mickie and Team EnVyUs was taking the title of the Overwatch APEX Season 1. The squad beat Afeeca Freecs Blue with the score 4:0 taking home the prize of $87K, NV’s highest reward yet.
The second greatest win for EnVyUs was at the Major League Gaming Vegas 2016. Mickie and his team beat another top team, Faze Clan with another unbeatable record of 4:0, making them impossible to beat they took home $40K.
