Pan ‘Fade’ Yi

Pan ‘Fade’ Yi is a Chinese pro player that trains in Dota 2 playing for VGJ.Thunder. He takes on the responsibility of team captain while also supporting his teammates in-game. He plays his best support performances with Earth Spirit, Tusk, Elder Titan.

Aside from practising Dota 2, he has also played Animal Super Squad in his free time. Being a professional player, travelling has been a part of his life attending esports tournaments. Taking the opportunity to walk around the streets and see the sights. Perhaps even relax by the beach, washing the stress away.

Where it all began:

Pan has always liked the competition and computer games, in fact after school he would go to the Internet Café and spend time playing Defense of the Ancients. On the weekends, he would follow many esports matches while also learning from the pros gameplay, motivating him to be better so that one day he too could be a top gamer.

Fade’s dream came true in March 2016 joining his very first esports team, Thunderobot Gaming. Making a name for himself, his gameplay impressed another esports squad, Vici Gaming Potential with whom he stayed until September 2017. Then Yi moved to his current team, VGJ.Thunder where he continues to be a top player in the Chinese gaming scene.

The Team:

VGJ.Thunder was originally known as Team VGJ, a Chinese Dota 2 team that was established in September 2016. Due to the successes, the gaming association have acquired a North American Team, VGJ.Storm.

VGJ.Thunder created a new CSGO squad that involved rOtK, Fenrir, Agressif, hym and Nono with Jeremy Lin as the honorary captain. On the 6th September rebranding to VGJ.Thunder, they acquired a new lineup. The current dota squad consists of Fade as the in-game leader, Sylar, Freeze, Yang and their latest acquisition of pro player ddc from LFY – Forever Young.

Competition Participation:

Fade and his team VGJ.Thunder have recently participated in premier and major tournaments such as Dota 2 Asia Championship 2018, GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor and ESL One Genting 2018. As for China qualifier matches, fade and his dota squad have taken part in the EPICENTER XL, ESL One Katowice 2018, StarLadder i-League Invitational #4.

Fade and his unit have had the pleasure of competing against top esports squads like Team Liquid, LGD Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Virtus.Pro, Vici Gaming, LFY – Forever Young, Newbee, TNC Pro Team and so many more. The competitive experience has given them the knowledge of how to solve their mistakes, learning new dota tactics and how to counter their opponents.

Winnings:

The great accomplishment for Fade and his unit, VGJ.Thunder was at The Bucharest Major 2018. Going through the Group Stages the CSGO team successfully earned their spot in the main event. The playoffs saw VGJ.Thunder beat top esports units TNC pro team in the Quarterfinals and Newbee in the Semifinals. Reaching the finals, VGJ.Thunder lost to a better squad Virtus.Pro, even though it was a loss, the Chinese players were proud to claim their second prize of a $200K.

The second achievement for Fade and VGJ.Thunder was winning Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds. The major final match was won by VGJ.T beating Evil Geniuses with a remarkable score of 3-0, claiming their first prize of $200K.
