Oscar ‘mixwell’ Cañellas

Oscar ‘mixwell’ Cañellas is a 22-year-old pro gamer competing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. He takes on the role of an awper and can handle the rifler position when the need arises for his team, Optic Gaming.

Outside of gaming, Oscar likes to play sports like Table Tennis and Ice Hockey. In connection with CS, Mixwell gets to practice his aiming skills at the shooting range, to help him understand everything about weapons. He has experienced the freedom of flying and sure has no fear of heights to do one of his wildest sports activities yet, skydiving. Mixwell and his teammates have seen the recent movie, Interstellar one of many films he loved to watch and the next best thing is that he gest to travel to countries to compete on the International stage.

Where it all began:

In Oscar’s younger days, he would watch his older brother known as DaTacom would play video games like Day of Defeat. When mixwell was old enough to get a computer of his own he started playing Counter-Strike Source and CS 1.6, giving him an understanding of different strategies to be a better player.

Mixwell began his competitive gaming career in 2013 with his very first esports team, 34united Club. Improving his skills and learning new gameplays, Oscar has played with top esports teams like OverGaming, Epsilon Esports, x6tence and gbots esports Club helping him become the professional player he is today.

The Team:

Optic Gaming is an American gaming company that was established in 2006 by five Call of Duty gamers who wanted to compete professionally. Since then the association has grown to support more teams that compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Halo, Gears of War, Dota 2, PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds and League of Legends.

Optic Gaming created their CSGO unit in 2016, acquiring the former Conquest players Shahzam, daps, RUSH, NAF and Stanislaw. Over two years the roster changed a few times but now have formed the current lineup that consists of mixwell, Friberg, allu, Magisk and HS, taking their gaming levels to new heights.

Competition Participation:

Cañellas and his current squad, Optic Gaming have participated in the latest CSGO tournaments such as the Esports Championship Series Season 4 – Finals, ESL Pro League, WESG 2017 Europe, IEM Oakland, iBUYPOWER Masters 2017, Europe Minor Championship Boston 2018 among many events.

In Oscar’s gaming career, he has gained the competitive experience of going against the likes of Fnatic, Team Ukraine, SK Gaming, Renegades, EXtatus, Cloud 9, Misfits and G2 Esports.

Winnings:

The highest earnings for Mixwell was while playing for Optic at the Eleague Season 2. The CSGO team defeated EnVyUs, Fnatic, Mousesports and Faze Clan that led them to the Grand Finals beating Astralis 2-1 to claim their well-deserved prize of $400K.

Mixwell’s second achievement was at the Esports Championship Series Season 2 – Finals competing for Optic. On their way advancing to the Semifinals, the CSGO unit beat Cloud 9, Faze Clan and EnVyUs. Pulling through to the finals, Optic lost to Astralis finishing in second place, they took home a reward of $120K.
