Nathan ‘NBK‘ Schmitt is a talented esports player from France, training in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competing for G2 Esports. He is a well-rounded player having the skills to be an awper but his current position within his unit is that of a rifler with a supportive role, mastering a balance between aggressive attacks and defending game plays.
Other than CS: GO, Nathan loves the game series, BioShock as well as H1Z1 which helps him cope with the pressure of upcoming matches. The esports community have had the idea that his alias came from Baguette or Nathan but in truth NBK stands for Natural Born Killer.
He listens to all kinds of music genres but his favourite artists are Linkin Park and MGK. He likes the lyrics of songs that make sense and most especially gangster rap. One of the fastest ways to Nathan heart is food, he loves cooking pasta, making him the happiest person on the planet.
Where it all began:
Nathan was around eight years old when he got into computer gaming, he would watch his father and brother play Counter-Strike. Curiosity got the better of him and wanted to try out CS Source himself.
Schmitt decided to become a professional CS player who joined his first esports team in 2009 with Dreamrar, then on with Roccat and VeryGames. In 2012, like a lot of other gamers, NBK made the switch to play CS: GO upon its release and has never stopped gaming. He has acquired over seven years of gaming experience so far improving on his deadly aims and CS strategies for G2 Esports.
The Team:
G2 Esports was formerly known as Gamers 2, that was a Spanish pro organization based in Madrid. It was established in November 2013 by Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez. The club supports squads that specialize in League of Legends, CS: GO, Hearthstone, Rocket League, Vainglory and Super Smash.
G2 CS: GO team was created in February 2015, participating in their very first tournament, ESL One Katowice 2015 – LAN Qualifier. The roster has had a few roster changes but have a talented team that consists of Shox, bodyy, NBK-, apex and KennyS to prove their fighting potential in esports tournaments.
Competition Participation:
Some of the prestigious tournaments that G2 have taken part in include the qualifiers of ESL One New York 2017, PGL Major Krakow, ECS Season 3 Finals among many other events. NBK has had a few outstanding performances, one at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca back in 2015, playing for NV at the time, the unit beat Navi, 2-0. Another event was at DH Winter 2014, where NBK and his team, LDLC defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas with a record 2-1.
G2’s gaming experience has given them the knowledge of how other teams play, learning new CS strategies. By competing against some of the top teams like NV, Fnatic, Navi, Flipsid3, Faze Clan, North and Immortals they learnt how to overcome obstacles and sticky situations so that next time around, they hope to beat more CS: GO units.
Winnings:
The highest earnings achieved by NBK and his team NV at the time was at the WESG 2016 Finals. The unit beat Team Kinguin with the score 2-0, taking the championship title and a reward of $800K.
His second great win was the ESL Pro League Season 5 – Finals while competing for G2 Esports. The CS: GO team defeated North with a record 3-0, to take the championship title.
