Jiajun 'Sylar' Liu is a professional gamer that hails from China. In the esports Dota 2 scene, he is known by his nickname Sylar, who played the carry role for EHOME with Dota 2 characters like Lone Druid, Morphling and Anti Mage.
Sylar is known to have an odd habit of placing tissue paper on the mouse buttons and on the keyboard. Unusual as it may sound, it could turn out to be just hygiene practice or perhaps his way of protecting his identity so as not to leave any fingerprints…
Where it all began:
Liu’s developed an interest in video games through his cousin. Since they used to live together as kids, he would watch his relative play games on his pc. Eventually he was encouraged to try the video game with his cousin. By 2010, Sylar was playing Ral Three and DotA.
The current Dota squad Sylar is competing for is EHOME. A unit that was established in 2004, became one of the strongest and oldest groups in the Chinese Dota scene. The club was considered a foreign team since it was not a part of the Association of China esports, in fact they did not get the same support as in other countries.
Jiajun has participated in the premier matches The Boston Major and at the Summit 6, where EHOME lost to NP in both events. Liu has also attended other competitions like the Major matches, G-League 2016 and Dota 2 Professional League Season 1 with Vici Gaming. Sylar together with several teams has beaten LGD Gaming, VG.J, IG Vitality, EHOME, Invictus Gaming and Fnatic.
In his Dota career so far Sylar has not won a first in TI yet so hopefully this is not the end of his esports profession.
The greatest accomplishment for Jiajun was at The International 5 playing for LGD Gaming. They finished third place defeated by Evil Genuises, taking home a jaw-dropping prize of $2.2 million.
The second biggest reward for Sylar was with Vici Gaming, where they lost to the TI4 champions Newbee. VG finished a close second place scooping a prize of an astonishing $1.4 million.
