2017 was quite a successful year for Team Liquid accomplishing 10 first prizes, finishing in second place in 2 dota tournaments. The International 7 winners, Liquid showed the esports scene, who are masters of Dota 2 with their consistent performances in every match dominating the event. Since their TI win, Liquid have encountered some challenges at DreamLeague Season 8 and ESL One Hamburg. Will the dota team recuperate from their vulnerabilities in time for ESL One Genting 2018?
The first esports team, Mineski from Southeast Asia received an invitation to take part in ESL One Genting. The dota squad has the potential to be in the top rankings such as what happened at PGL Open Bucharest and the StarLadder i-League Season 3. Mineski have gone through a few roster changes that have not given the pro players enough time to train properly before the upcoming dota 2 tournaments. Although the squad has the strong will to win, will Mineski rise to the upcoming challenge of going through the Playoffs?
The Chinese team, Newbee have been invited to attend ESL One Genting 2018. Having come so close in the final of The International 7, they have shown their dota 2 fighting capabilities throughout the past year. No surprise here that Newbee will be one of those esports teams that fans will look out for in the ESL One Genting Dota event.
One of the European qualifying dota 2 teams is Planet Dog, a professional team that has been recently formed to compete in The International 7 but were eliminated in the European qualifiers. Earning a spot in the ESL One Genting dota event gives them the motivation to fight on getting the exposure they need to rise as a top team.
The Russian team, Virtus.Pro has put on quite an entertaining show of dota 2 esports at The International 7 finishing in third place. Since then they have attended ESL One Hamburg 2017 beating Team Secret as well as the most recent Dota Summit 8 defeating Fnatic in the gameplay, taking home the first prize. As much as VP can win a Major tournament they can also lose a match like what happened at MDL Macau losing to TNC or Dreamleague Season 8 defeated by Evil Geniuses and these results make Virtus.Pro very unpredictable.
Another European qualifier is Penta Sports, have made quite an accomplishment winning over Team OG in the qualifying matches. The Dota squad have the opportunity to make a name for themselves in a major tournament like ESL One Genting 2018, to improve their game levels, reaching new gaming heights.
The Brazilian Dota team, SG E-Sports have shown their gaming skills previously in The Kiev Major and ESL One Hamburg 2017, where they ranked between 5th till 8th place in the esports tournaments.
