Du ‘Monet’ Peng

Du ‘Monet’ Peng is a Chinese Dota player currently competing for LGD.Forever Young. Monet plays the carry position for his squad with his signatures heroes Gyrocopter, Juggernaut and Urse to help lead his team to victory in esports matches. He was known as the youngest dota gamer to have reached 9K MMR last May 2017.

Being a professional cyber athlete, Monet travels around the world with his teammates to compete on the International stage. Breaking away from gaming, he takes the time to walk around the streets, seeing the important cultural sights. In his free time back home, apart from playing Dota 2, he practices video games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Don’t Starve together.

Where it all began:

Defense of the ancients

He started out playing Defense of the Ancients and realized that he was actually good at the game. Eventually, in 2015, he made the smooth transition to play Dota 2, practicing on a wide hero pool, improving his skills and abilities. Pursuing a professional gaming career, he started playing for FTD club C and then moved on with CDEC Avenger just before joining LGD.Forever Young.

The Team:

LGD Gaming is a Chinese gaming company that was founded in 2009 and sponsored by Guizhou Laogandie Food. The esports association started out with a squad, For The Dream that played Defense of the Ancients. Since then LGD Gaming has expanded supporting teams in Dota 2 and League of Legends.

LGD. Forever Young was formed in September 2016 by xiao8 and Yao. Over the years, there were a few changes to find the perfect combination of teammates and today the current squad consists of Monet, Super, Inflame, Ahfu and Yao to take their gaming skills to the next level.

Competition Participation:

Esports tournament ESL One Genting 2019

The esports competitions that Monet and his team, LGD.Forever Young has participated include the China qualifiers of EPICENTER XL, DreamLeague Season 9, Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018, ESL One Katowice 2018 and StarLadder i-League Invitational #4. As for premier and major events, LGD.FY have taken part in The Bucharest Major, ESL One Genting 2018, MDL Macau and Perfect World Masters among many others.

Winnings:

The highest earnings won by Monet and his team LGD.Forever Young was at The International 2017. The dota squad persevered through until the Upper Bracket Finals, beating top units like TNC Pro team, Virtus.Pro, however, they lost to Newbee. Moving down to the Lower Bracket Finals LGD.FY lost to the Dota Champions, Team Liquid. Finishing in second place, the dota 2 squad won a reward of a whopping $2.5 million.

The second great accomplishment for Peng and his team, LGD.Forever Young was at the major esports event, Dota 2 Professional League Season 4. Going through the Group Stages the dota squad advanced directly to the Semifinals beating Newbee, proceeding to the Grand Finals. The match saw the top esports teams, LGD.Forever Young won over Newbee with an incredible score 3-2 to take home a prize of $51K.
