Dreamhack Open Valencia 2018

The organizers, DH will be hosting a gaming event, DreamHack Open Valencia 2018. The major tournament will be held between the 12th till 14th July in Spain, gathering all esports fans around the world to witness the CS: GO action at the Feria Valencia Arena. The much awaited DH major matches will see the eight top teams competing for their share from a prize pool of $100K, showing off their best Counter-Strike strategies, giving the avid audience a spectacle.

DreamHack is well-known for its festivals and tournaments dedicated to esports held in several countries around Europe and North America. Competitions all started with the seasonal DH Summer in June and DH Winter held in November. This year will be the 7th time that DreamHack will be held in Valencia, celebrating the esports hype with a major CS: GO competition, game try-outs, concerts, cosplay and so much more.

Looking back at what happened in Dreamhack Valencia 2017, the Semi-Finals saw Red Reserve who outplayed Heroic with an incredible score of 2-1 while the Ninjas overtook Team EnVyUs with a record of 2-1. The Grand Finals was won by Ninjas in Pyjamas against Red Reserve with a record of 2-0.

In the main event of DreamHack Open Valencia 2018, Counter-Strike teams will be divided into two groups of four. At this stage, there will be a double elimination with a best of 1 and best of 3 so that the best two CS: GO squads advance to the playoffs. Four units remain in the Semi-finals where two units will be eliminated. The crème de la crème of Counter-Strike will get to compete against each other for the top prize of $50K.

So far three teams have been announced to participate at DreamHack Open Valencia 2018. These are Fragsters, Luminosity and Giants Gaming as for the remaining five CS squads who will be invited are still to be revealed.

Representing the European region at DH Valencia 2018 is the Danish squad of Fragsters. The CS squad consists of pro players, stavn, dragonfly, Torben, Bubski and refrezh. The latest tournaments that the Danes have taken part in was at the Dreamhack Open Austin 2018, where they lost to Rogue to finish in third place. The Fragsters acquired their spot winning over Tempo Storm in the Qualifying matches of DH Valencia. How will the Dane killers fare in this esports event?

The North American esports team have recently participated at the Dreamhack Open Austin 2018, where Luminosity lost to the top CSGO team, Fragsters. On top of this, at the most recent Esports Championship Series Season 5 finals, LG got eliminated by G2 Esports in the Group Stages. Luminosity has managed to qualify for the major event, DreamHack Valencia 2018 outplaying eUnited winning an unbeatable score of 2-1. The current LG CSGO roster consists of yeL, NEKIZ, steel who joined as their new captain, as well as new additions, HEN1 and LUCAS1 who are replacing PKL and SHOOWTiME. With these changes in place, will LG improve on their communication in time for the tournament?

The Spaniard Giants recently took part in the Europe Minor Championship in London where they failed to qualify, losing to EXtatus. Finishing in fourth place, Giants Gaming performed better at the Moche XL Esports even though they lost to Hellraisers. Their most recent win was the Master League Portugal-Season 1 Finals defeating OFFSET Esports with an incredible score of 2-0. The Giants Gaming active CSGO roster includes pro players rmn, arki, KillDream, ALEX and their new gamer Blastinho who together will take their pro careers to new heights at the DreamHack Valencia 2018.
