DreamHack Open Summer 2018

DreamHack Open Summer 2018 is another CSGO tournament which will be held in Sweden. The major event will take place in Jönköping between the 16th till 18th June at the same time as ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018. Eight CSGO teams will fight hard for their winning share from a prize pool of $100K at the Elmia Convention Centre.

Dreamhack gaming festival

Dreamhack’s gaming festivals are known to be fun and casual at the same time an event where esports enthusiasts get to meet professional players. At this year’s DH Open Summer 2018, there will be other esports games featured such as Heroes of the Storm, Brawhalla and Hearthstone. Where the main games will be played in front of thousands of eager fans waiting to witness all the action.

At DreamHack Open Summer 2017, CS fans saw how SK Gaming acquired their spot in the playoffs winning over Mouz in the Group Stages. Advancing to the Semifinals, SK battled Counter Logic Gaming to secure their win on Cobblestone with a score of 16 to 9. Reaching the Grand Finals, the Brazilians faced Fnatic, winning on Inferno map, took the lead as terrorists winning 8 rounds and secured their winning lead on Mirage. The SK Gaming were the winners, taking home the DreamHack Open Summer 2017 title and $50K reward for finishing with an incredible score of 2-1 to FNC who claimed a surprising $20K.

Aside from the competitive gaming at DreamHack Open Summer 2018, there will be an expo like in every DH event. This year’s Summer digital festival will feature some music artists like Swedish DJ, Rymdkraft held on the 17 June as well as DJ duo, Da Tweekaz and Norwegian DJ, Refuzion will be featured on 18 June. Attending such a prestigious esports event like DreamHack Open Summer 2018 is not all about competition but also a celebration of music in the gaming world.

Back to the Dreamhack Open Summer 2018, the CSGO tournament will take place at the Elmia Convention Centre in Jonkoping. The event will see the best of the best Counter-Strike teams participate in the Group Stages with four CS teams in each group, the top two will then move on to the Playoffs. The main event will feature the Semifinals in a single elimination bracket in best-of-3 matches.

CS: GO teams at DreamHack Open Summer 2018

SK Gaming and Faze Clan will not be participating at the DreamHack Open Summer 2018 for they will be competing at ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018. This gives more opportunity for other top CSGO teams like Astralis, Navi, Fnatic, Cloud 9 and other pro teams to take the centre stage. In the meantime, as the event is fast approaching, DreamHack have announced two esports teams will take part so far.

The Imperial

The European team created their Counter-Strike squad in September 2016, starting out with Danish esports players. Last March 2018, The Imperial team acquired a new CS: GO roster that consists of tenzki, nexa, EspiranTo and nukkye. They have participated in the qualifying matches of DH Open Austin and ESL One Belo Horizonte. Imperial’s great win yet was winning against Heroic at the Copenhagen Games 2018, taking home the grand prize of $50K.

North American team, Complexity have acquired the two pro players Stanislaw and ShahZam back in April 2018. The CS: GO squad have recently gained their spot in the main event DreamHack Open Summer 2018 winning over Rogue with the record 2-0. Other esports qualifying matches also include DH Open Austin, ECS Season 5 and IEM Sydney among many, beating squads, Rise Nation, Mythic and Ownage.
