DreamHack Austin 2018

Many gamers and fans from around the world will be in attendance at DreamHack Austin 2018. The upcoming CSGO esports event is in its 7th year, that has become a yearly event to be one of 8 International stops. The competition will be held at the Austin Convention Center between the 1st until 3rd June. The major tournament will feature the best eight Counter-Strike teams that will compete for a prize pool of $100K.

A prestigious gaming festival like DreamHack has become a meeting place for many professional players and esports fans alike. DH Austin will be an action-packed event featuring competitive games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG, Starcraft II, Rainbow Six Siege, Super Smash Bros and Tekken 7. There will also be community tournaments in Clash Royale, League of Legends and Rocket League among others. On top of these competitions, there will also be a cosplay championship and music concerts by Krewella, Pegboard Nerds and Tokyo Machine, that will take centre stage on Friday night.

Here is a recap of what happened at last year’s CSGO tournament, DreamHack Open Austin 2017. Gambit Esports, Heroic, Immortals and G2 Esports went through the Group Stages. In the Semifinals, IMT won over Heroic while Gambit defeated G2. The Grand Final was very intense that proved the stronger team was Gambit Esports winning over Immortals with an unbeatable record of 2-0. The European CS squad took the DH Austin Championship title, proudly claiming their prize of $50K.

At DreamHack Austin 2017, over 250,000 people attended the live tournament. Breaking records, there was an online audience following the CSGO matches that amounted to over 375 million views.

Back to DH Open Austin 2018, the tournament format will feature six esports teams that will be directly invited. One European squad and a North American unit had to go through the qualifying stages to acquire their spot in the main event. From time to time, there will be updates on which esports teams will be participating so that with some research you can place your best CSGO betting.

The main event at DreamHack Austin 2018 will kick off with two groups of four professional teams in a double elimination. The top two Counter-Strike units from Group A and B will advance to the playoffs. In single elimination bracket, winners of the Semi-finals will move on to the Finals, showing the esports scene, who is master of CSGO.

Fragsters

A CSGO European team, Fragsters from Denmark was created in March 2016. Their goal in 2018 is to reach the top 30 CSGO rankings of HLTV.org. Fragsters managed to acquire their spot at DreamHack Open Austin, beating the renowned squad, Godsent with an unbeatable score of 2-0. This is their chance to make it big at the upcoming major tournament, but how will they fare?

Rogue

The North American esports organisation, Rogue formed their CSGO team in August 2016. They spent most of 2017 and the past few months of 2018 participating in NA Qualifier matches like the most recent DreamHack Open Tours and ESL One Belo Horizonte. They have taken part in minor esports tournaments in the past however their last premier competition Rogue participated was the ESL Pro League Season 6 in November 2017 and the one before was the major DreamHack Open Leipzig 2017. In the qualifying matches of DH Austin, the NA team beat top CSGO teams Etherian Esports, F1-racecar-PEEK and The Pioneers that led them to acquire a spot in the main event, DreamHack Open Austin 2018. This is their moment to show the esports scene their capabilities, what tricks have Rogue got up their sleeves?
