Djardel Jicko ‘DJ’ Mampusti

Djardel Jicko ‘DJ’ Mampusti is a talented 23-year-old pro gamer who trains in Dota 2 representing Fnatic. He plays the position of Support for his team, performing his best game-plays with dota heroes Enigma, Enchantress and Earth Spirit. His gaming experience has given him the skills to handle the offlaner role, giving him a deep understanding of the game.

DJ invested his winnings in an internet café chain called TheNet.Com in the Philippines, where the squad TNC Pro team is based. Outside of gaming, Mampusti loves to play badminton and hang out with his friends. His all-time favourite food is Lemon Chicken, and while enjoying his meal, he likes to watch the anime series, Attack on Titan.

Where it all began:

Jicko first encountered the video game Dota 2 in his first year of high school thanks to his classmates who introduced him to the game. He learnt to play the dota hero, sniper also known as Kardel Sharpeye for the similarity to his first name, Djardel. He kept practising Defense of the Ancients 2 through high school education to improve on his skills and take on a more professional approach to gaming.

After spending nearly two years playing Dota 2 casually, a friend asked him to participate in gaming events. Djardel always liked playing video games while also challenging himself to be competitive against other gamers. Mampusti quit school to join his first esports team EoT-Hammer in November 2013. He never looked back, making a name for himself as a pro player in the esports scene.

The Team:

Fnatic is a European esports company based in the United Kingdom that was founded by Sam Mathews in 2004. The association is well known for the success in their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad and also for winning the Esports Award for Team of the Year in 2006 and 2009. Today, FNC support more units that compete in Dota 2, FIFA, Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, Rocket League and Vainglory.

Fnatic created their Dota 2 squad in November 2011, becoming the famous top team in South East Asia. The lineup consists of the professional players, EternalEnVy as team captain, Abed, Ohaiyo, DJ and pieliedie.

Competition Participation:

DJ and Fnatic have participated in several esports qualifying tournaments that include Galaxy Battles II: SEA, MDL Macau SEA, Dota Summit 8: SEA, The Perfect World Masters SEA, as well as the PGL Open Bucharest 2017 SEA.

Some of the Premier and Major events that the top team, Fnatic have taken part in was the most recent DreamLeague Season 8, AMD SAPPHIRE Dota PIT League, ESL One Hamburg 2017, The International 2017 and the ZOTAC Cup Masters.

Winnings:

The highest reward achieved by DJ and his team Fnatic was at The International 2016. They continued to advance in the Lower brackets up to Round 5, where, FNC lost to Chaos with the record 2-0. The squad persevered to finish in fourth, to claim their prize of $1.4 million.

The second great achievement for Mampusti was while competing for Fnatic at The Manila Major 2016. Although they lost to another top dota 2 Team Liquid, FNC finished in fifth place proudly receiving the reward of a remarkable $202K.
