Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev is a 20-year-old Russian cyber athlete playing Dota 2 as support for Natus Vincere. His great performance with Cleave Gaming was noticed and when former player Goblak left Na’Vi, Sonneiko took his place. His ability to adjust to any situation and perform his best with Dota characters Earthshaker and Winter Wyvern makes his playstyle top level.
Where it all began:
Akbar started his gaming passion in December 2012 with Defense of the Ancients, practising and training as mid laner two to three years. He found out about the competitive scene in Dota 2 after receiving an invitation from his friend to attend an esports event.
He made a name for himself with good ranks and MMR in fact he was invited to join his very first esports team, Cleave Gaming. He took on the support role and never got bored playing the position for his team.
Natus Vincere is an esports organisation that was established in 2009 starting out with a Counter-Strike team that was supported by ‘Arbalet’. His philosophy on gaming has reflected in the NaVi players to compete like they were born to win esports tournaments. Due to their success as a company, they support more units that specialise in CS:GO, FIFA, LOL, World of Tanks and Dota 2.
Natus Vincere Dota was originally created in October 2010 in time to compete for the International 2011, where they won against EHOME 3:1 taking home a staggering $1 million. The NaVi dota squad currently consists of Pajkatt, Dendi, General, Sonneiko and Biver carrying on the Natus Vincere legacy.
Sonneiko and his team Natus Vincere have recently participated in the StarLadder i_league Invitational European Qualifiers, The International 2016, The Summit 5, ESL One Frankfurt 2016 and The Manila Major among other esports tournaments.
Until March 2017, Sonneiko was a part of Vega Squadron Dota roster where he competed in Dota 2 Champions League Season 11, Overpower Cup and The Kiev Major 2017 CIS Qualifiers.
The largest accomplishment for Butaev and Natus Vincere was competing at the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2. NaVi battled it out against Team Secret to win an amazing cash prize of $135K.
