Kim ‘Trick’ Kang-yun

Kim ‘Trick’ Kang-yun is a pro gamer from Seosan, South Korea. He trains and practices in League of Legends as the Jungler for G2 Esports, giving his best performances with heroes like Kha’Zix, Sejuani, Rek’Sai, Elise and Gragas.

In his spare time, Trick also plays Overwatch for fun. His dedication towards the game shows in his rankings that have moved from the starting Bronze to a current Gold position since 19th July. A break from LoL every now and then gives him some time to relieve the stress of upcoming esports tournaments.

Where it all began:

Kim started playing a similar computer game to LOL, perhaps it was Heroes of the Storm or maybe World of Warcraft. A few months after, he learnt about League of Legends that led him to become a professional player competing in a game he has never stopped playing since he was 16.

Kang-yun began his competitive LOL career in 2014 as a substitute with the South Korean unit, CJ Entus. Trick joined G2 Esports that marked his transition to Europe, playing in the EU LCS leagues and has become a dominant jungler. Trick hopes that in future his team will take the World Championship title.

The Team:

G2 is a European esports association that was originally known as Gamers 2, launched in February 2014. The gaming company currently have professional teams that compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Super Smash Bros, Vainglory and League of Legends. Their mission as a professional gaming company is to take their gaming standards to new heights while becoming a top team.

G2 LOL

G2 LOL team are considered the Kings of Europe for securing their spot in the European LCS tournaments, showing off their aggressive LOL strategies against the best top teams. The active LOL roster includes Expect, Trick, Perkz, Zven and Mithy.

Competition Participation:

Trick and G2 have proven their potential in 2017 so far coming in second place in three esports tournaments, Rift Rivals, MSI and World Championship.

At the Mid-Season Invitational, G2 played their best but lost to SK Telecom T1 with the score 1:3, coming in at a close second place. As for the IEM Season XI, the Lol squad were defeated by Flash Wolves with the unbeatable score 0:2.

Winnings:

Trick has shown his versatility to carry and support as the jungler of the team. His big win was at 2017 EU LCS Spring, where G2 beat Unicorns of Love with a record 3:1. They took the championship title, taking home the amazing prize of $100K.

The latest great achievement for G2 Trick would be the EU LCS Spring 2017 awarding him, the All Pro Team (Jungle). Kim has also achieved a few personal records in the 2016 EU LCS Spring and Summer Seasons playing for G2, Trick won the MVP of the competitions and All Pro team (Jungler).
