Jake ‘Stewie2k’ Yip

Jake ‘Stewie2k’ Yip is an American professional player and captain of the C9 squad, taking over the role of the entry fragger or rifler. Stewie2k is considered as one of the top CS players in North America since he joined in Summer 2014.

Since he plays a lot of Counter-Strike, he is able to point out different strategies around the game. Stewie is known for his unpredictability in his play style, bringing in chaos for the enemy and this makes him a great esports player.

Where it all began:

Stewie2k liked gaming ever since he was six years old starting out with games consoles like the Nintendo Game Boy. He used to watch his older brother play Counter-Strike 1.6 and on occasion he would try out the game.

When Jake got his own computer, his friends would come over to play Call of Duty with him. In 2014, Yip began practicing CS:GO, remembering how fun Counter-Strike was in his younger days.

The Team:

Cloud 9 is an esports organisation that was founded by Jack Etienne back in 2012 starting with a LOL squad. The gaming company supports several teams in CS:GO, Dota 2, Hearthstone and Overwatch.

Competition Participation:

Their most recent tournaments held in 2017 were the qualifiers at StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 – America and at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas.

There were other esports tournaments Stewie2K and C9 have participated; these include Eleague, ESL Pro matches, Intel Extreme Masters, iBUYPOWER Masters 2016 and ESEA tournaments among others.

Winnings:

As a pro player Stewie2K and Cloud 9 have achieved their highest earnings from the CS:GO premier event, ESL Pro League Season 4 – Finals. They won the championship title over SK Gaming taking home an amazing $200K.
