Jake ‘JAKE’ Lyon

Jake ‘Jake’ Lyon is an American professional player competing for Luminosity Gaming Evil. He calls all the shots, while playing the DPS role leading his team to victory in Overwatch tournaments. He believes in the potential of his OW squad that they will compete to impress and entertain many esports fans for many years to come.

rock climbing and nature

Aside from gaming, Jake likes rock-climbing which helps him seek out the safest routes as well as the risky ones with quick decision making. The image of him reaching the top to see the breath-taking views of nature is his motivation. He also practices yoga to help him relieve the stress and pressure of professional gaming, to help him think clearly.

Where it all began:

Overwatch game

Jake always liked playing video games, the competition it brings among players, aiming to be better at the game. The most recent video game he came across happened to be Overwatch and tried playing it at an open beta event. He practiced and trained in OW and his full time dream came true when he joined his very first professional squad, bird noises and since then never stopped gaming.

The Team:

Luminosity Gaming is a North American esports company that was founded by Steve ‘Buyaka’ Maida in February 2015. Since then the organisation’s success has expanded to support teams that compete in CS:GO, LOL, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Smite and Overwatch.

LG Evil OW2

Luminosity Gaming Evil was created in March 2016, made up of former Hammer Esports players. The OW LG Evil roster includes the pro players Jake as the captain, train, Voll, super, rob420 and Avast.

Competition Participation:

Lyon’s professional career has made him the player he is today, competing for LG Evil in the most recent matches, CyberPower PC 2017 Extreme Gaming Series Spring Invitational and also at the Alienware Monthly Melee: March.

Overwatch Melee

Jake attended Haste Overwatch competing for Hammer Esports beating top team, Tempo Storm with the score 3:0. The same unit have also beaten Luminosity Gaming Loyal at the Alienware Monthly Melee: January. Their performance at the event impressed LG who later acquired Hammer Esports.

Winnings:

The highest earnings for Jake and his team Luminosity Gaming Evil was the Overwatch Carbon Series. At the Major tournament, the OW squad finished in second place, losing to another top team, Immortals with the score 1:3. Although LG Evil were defeated they proudly claimed their amazing prize of $5K.
